      SHIATSU 指圧

Shiatsu, a body practice through touch

SHIATSU is an art, a discipline, and a Japanese manual therapy technique. It has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is based on an understanding of energy movements, yin-yang balance, and the meridian pathways that run through the body.

It involves calligraphic movements of the entire body and encourages the recipient to self-regulate. In Shiatsu, the mental, physical, and emotional aspects are not separate; they are closely linked. Tension can be reflected in posture, and imbalance in overall tone. Shiatsu then invites a process of regulation and regeneration.

The pressure applied can be deep or very subtle, sometimes accompanied by stretching or mobilization inspired by a rigorous protocol specific to Shiatsu.
The touch follows a continuous movement, attentive to what is flowing, what is resisting, what is seeking to readjust, allowing the body to find its own rhythm. It is an approach that is both very pleasant and effective.

have been working with companies for eight years. This professional experience, rooted in everyday work life, allows me to quickly and accurately identify the most frequently encountered problems: mental overload, physical fatigue, prolonged stress, and postural imbalances.

Shiatsu offers benefits that extend far beyond the professional sphere. It provides support during periods of transition, fatigue, or tension related to everyday life by supporting the body's natural self-regulating abilities and calming the mind.

A shiatsu session offers the recipient a time to refocus in a dedicated, serene space that promotes balance throughout the body.

Traditionally, SHIATSU is practiced fully clothed and lying down on the floor or on a table.

Stress

What is  the objective of a Shiatsu workshop within the company itself?

I accompany the employee of the company to play down, even rethink his defense strategies, sometimes disproportionate, which oppress and exhaust him, and to energize or even strengthen his immune system.

Indeed, a psychological problem that disturbs the energetics can in the long run take root in the body and conversely, a weak or suffering body in turn influences the emotional.

Many individuals often sleep poorly because of badly "digested" events, badly mastered or misunderstood during the day, hurtful thoughts, underestimated or late work, personal or family problems that induce a vicious circle and unconsciously affect all of their work.

This further contributes to weakening them, affecting their health, their work and their community life.

There are indeed as many reactions to stress as there are manifestations of stress. Only suffering is common to all.

It is obvious that everyone reacts to "good" or "bad" stress in different ways.

The Shiatsu practitioner reports on the immediate energetic and organic state of the receiver.

The direct contact invites him to trust both his intuitions and the taking of the pulse. It thus allows him to evaluate the distance between the word and the real energy situation of the recipient. (what is formulated from what is not, experience has taught me to read between the lines many times). The relief that shiatsu provides is often proportional to the degree of stress experienced by the recipient.

Shiatsu can allow him to calmly apprehend some of the anxiety factors triggered by the awareness of his body, itself redefined from a holistic, interdependent point of view, and intimately connected to a space of which it is the occupant, in all serenity.

Shiatsu makes it possible to intervene positively on the mechanisms of the mental and emotional state of others, this central system which reconstructs our adequate peripheral circuits with the other.

Shiatsu gives company employees the possibility of adapting differently by managing their stress in a positive way.

By reinterpreting the opening of certain spaces, he can thus create others, accessible, encouraging, bringing him renewed confidence allowing him to better discern the origin of his conflicts and thus find solutions to the management of his problems more serenely.

His ability to adapt is better, more open, his sense of listening and empathy more developed. He finds it easier to concentrate, he can take a step back, thus preventing him from going around in circles on surmountable points.

Shiatsu is particularly suited to treating back problems encountered in the workplace.
The pressure applied helps to release tension in the muscles and tendons. This tension, which often builds up over time, can cause pain, stiffness, and discomfort, hindering the proper flow of vital energy.
This often results in “having a sore back,” persistent fatigue, and body pain.
These blockages can also lead to headaches, a loss of inner drive, frustration, or gradual demotivation, and even repeated absences from work.

In the workplace

In a professional setting, Shiatsu provides concrete support for the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders.

It helps improve physical comfort, physical availability, and the ability of employees to adapt, while promoting greater awareness of oneself and others in the work environment.

Lower back pain (lumbago), neck pain (cervicalgia), tendonitis, wrist pain, migraines, and knee problems are very common in the workplace.
They are often linked to
        / Poor or prolonged posture
/ A lack of or, conversely, an excess of physical activity
         / Accumulated fatigue
         / Poor diet
/ Old injuries that have been poorly assessed or inadequately treated
         / Respiratory or digestive difficulties

The effects of Shiatsu
Shiatsu involves applying precise, tailored pressure along the entire length of the spine.
This promotes overall realignment of the body and encourages the body do not to resign oneself to pain, but to adjust certain everyday behaviors: posture, pace, breathing, incorporating simple and beneficial stretches.

Defusing tensions;

Psychosocial risks (PSRs)

The body strives for constant balance: homeostasis.
It is capable of absorbing limited disturbances, but when tensions become too intense or too prolonged, the regulatory mechanisms become exhausted. Stress then acts as an aggressive mechanism which, depending on its intensity and repetition, places excessive strain on this internal thermostat.
When a person is no longer able to adjust the gap between what they perceive, the constraints of their professional environment, and their own resources, an imbalance sets in.
This imbalance can take the form of violence suffered, or perceived as such, which has repercussions in their professional life and sometimes in their private life.
Each story is unique; it sometimes finds echoes in others but is never identical. However, the society in which we live tends to clone behaviors and weaken the individual.
Each story is unique, sometimes echoing others but never identical. Yet the society in which we live tends to clone behaviors and weakens the individual, who is required to constantly adapt and respond to often contradictory external demands.

However, our bodies, with their physiology, history, memories, and sensitivity, never react in the same way from one situation to another, from one individual to another. There are similarities, but also unique, sometimes unexpected responses, at the risk of forgetting how unique each person is.It is precisely this difference, common to all, that must be preserved and cultivated as a source of richness rather than a flaw. It is the foundation of diversity and the very origin of tolerance. Burnout, depression, and violence are omnipresent today; let us ensure that they do not become commonplace.

A Shiatsu session offers a moment of pause, relaxation, and regulation. It allows the person to regain a state of calm, catch their breath, and reconnect with a peaceful physical experience.

From this regained space, they can more clearly discern the factors and causes of their stress, and thus face it with greater serenity, confidence, and otherness, both towards themselves and their environment.

  Identify Fatigue,

  dispel clouds

Beyond temporary fatigue, often linked to seasonal changes or periods of occasional overwork, there is a more diffuse, persistent fatigue. A deep weariness sets in, altering one's zest for life and making everyday life more difficult to bear.
Everything becomes more demanding, sometimes discouraging. Concentration diminishes, motivation erodes, and anxiety finds fertile ground.
In the context of corporate life, this inner disconnect can become a source of additional suffering.
It affects the quality of work, relationships within the team, and gradually undermines the person's overall balance.
My role is to welcome whatever comes up with listening, patience, and kindness.
To help discern what is fatigue, stress, or deeper exhaustion, and, when necessary, to refer the person to a qualified professional.
Shiatsu can be a valuable complementary support, providing a space for relaxation, refocusing, and comfort, conducive to letting go and better communication

The dynamics of Shiatsu

When I ask someone what they expect from their session, I often hear that they want to “be re-energized.” Shiatsu does not work like a mechanical energy recharge. It does not force anything or rush the body.

Its role is to open up a space, as close as possible to the person's energy constitution, in order to promote a more balanced and sustainable dynamic. This dynamic may be immediate or develop gradually, depending on the state of fatigue, injuries, physical history, and life context. When fatigue is deep, it is first necessary to identify the causes of this vulnerability, release tensions, and allow the recipient to regain confidence in their body, which may have become foreign or a source of constraints.

Shiatsu is particularly effective, yet it accompanies this process gently, without rushing.

It is common to hear after a session: “I didn't know my body was sore in those places.” This realization often marks the beginning of a more comprehensive rebalancing.

Shiatsu awakens, supports, and accompanies. It does not compensate for existing deficiencies, but helps to reharmonize the mind, body, and emotions, promoting well-being and vital flow.
